A variety of classroom experiences will be offered for parents from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 19. The offerings and presenters include:

? “At Home With Michelangelo: Graphic Insights Into His Art and Life,” Gary Radke, professor of fine arts in The College of Arts and Sciences. Shemin Auditorium, Shaffer Art Bldg., 1 p.m.;

? “Captain Hook Meets Rain Man: Ability and Disability in Hollywood and on Main Street,” Douglas Biklen, professor of cultural foundations of education in the School of Education. Room A1, Newhouse I, 1 p.m.;

? “An Introduction to Youth, Schooling and Popular Culture,” Sari Knopp Biklen, professor and chair of the cultural foundations of education department in the School of Education. Room A1, Newhouse I, 2 p.m.;

? “What’s So Big About Making Things Small: Undergrad Research at SU in Nanoscience,” James Spencer, professor of chemistry in The College of Arts and Sciences. Room 1-019 Center for Science and Technology, 2 p.m.;

? “How Search Engines Work,” Susan Bonzi, professor and director of information management and technology in the School of Information Studies, Room A2, Newhouse I, 2 p.m.;

? “Self Assessment, Computers and Learning: How We Can Use Computers to Help Students Self-Assess,” Jerry Evensky, professor of economics in The College of Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School. Room 207 Hall of Languages, 3 p.m.;

? “Making Law Understandable,” William Banks, professor of law in the College of Law. Mehlman Lecture Hall Room 100, Winifred MacNaughton Hall, 3 p.m.;

? “The Digital Revolution: Implications for the Information Age,” Michael Nilan, professor in the School of Information Studies. Room 4-201 of the Center for Science and Technology, 3 p.m.;

? “Health Care and Family Function,” Bobbie Jean Perdue, professor of nursing in the College of Human Services and Health Professions. 207 Hall of Languages, 3 p.m.;

? “Jazzed About Sex,” Joseph Fanelli, senior instructor of child and family studies in the College of Human Services and Health Professions, 102 Hall of Languages, 4 p.m.;

? “College Is More Than an Education: Creating a Community,” Gerardine Clark, professor of drama in the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Arthur Storch Theater, 820 E. Genesee St., 4 p.m.; and

? “BIO 121 and 123: Adventures in Life,” Marvin Druger, professor of biology in The College of Arts and Sciences and professor and chair of the science teaching department in the School of Education. 207 Hall of Languages, 4 p.m.
