Political commentator Robert Novak to speak at Syracuse University for College RepublicansApril 21, 2001Mark Owczarskimaowczar@syr.edu

Conservative political commentator and veteran Washington newsman Robert Novak will visit Syracuse University May 1 as a guest of College Republicans. During his visit, Novak will give a public lecture, “A Washington Overview,” at 7 p.m. in Grant Auditorium. Tickets to the event are $1 and are available at the Schine Student Center Box Office (443-4517). Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event. Novak, a nationally syndicated columnist, is widely known for his work as a political commentator on CNN, where he is co-host of the “Evans and Novak” interview program, co-executive producer and contributor on “Capital Gang,” and frequent co-host of “Crossfire.” From 1963 to 1993, Novak teamed with the late Rowland Evans Jr. to write “Inside Report,” a syndicated column known for its hard-hitting analysis of national and international politics. Novak continues to write a column three times a week that is carried by more than 150 newspapers through Creators Syndicate. In addition to his column, Novak has written several books, including “The Reagan Revolution” (New York, 1981), “Nixon in the White House” (New York, 1971) and “Agony of the GOP: 1964” (New York, 1965).
