Larry Sur, CEO of Iogistics Inc., will be the recipient of the 2001 Salzberg Medallion, presented by Syracuse University’s School of Management. He will be honored at the 50th annual Harry E. Salzberg Lecture and Awards Program April 6 in Schoepflin Auditorium in the Crouse-Hinds School of Management Building. The lecture program was established in 1949 through a grant to SU by Murray M. Salzberg ’37, in memory of his father’s distinguished career in transportation. Salzberg Medallions are awarded to outstanding practitioners, advocates, academicians or researchers in the field of transportation, distribution and logistics management, and to companies for pioneering ideas and policies that have reshaped the industry. A schedule of events is available on the Salzberg Web site (http://www.som.syr.edu/centers/salzberg/index.htm). Those planning to attend should R.S.V.P. to Carolyn Salanger at 443-3549 or salanger@syr.edu. After 12 years in engineering and systems leadership positions with the Whirlpool Corp., Sur began a 22-year career at Schneider National in 1977. He headed up Schneider’s systems development, staking the company’s leadership position in systems technology and helping to revolutionize the industry. He launched new ventures within the company, including Schneider Communications, Schneider Dedicated and Schneider Logistics. Under his presidency, Schneider Logistics became a premier logistics company and expanded to include Schneider Logistics of Europe. During Sur’s time at Schneider National, revenues grew fortyfold. Sur retired from Schneider National in 1999 and the following year founded Iogistics, a full-service provider of logistics services. Iogistics also has interests in ThisMarket.com, a local market e-commerce enabler and delivery company. Active in many professional organizations, Sur served as an ex-officio board member of the Council of Logistics Management and serves on several corporate boards. He holds a bachelor’s degree and an advanced degree in engineering from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A. from Michigan State University.
