William L. Pollard, founding dean of the College of Human Services and Health Professions (HSHP), has announced several appointments in the college, effective July 1. Michael Olivette, currently interim associate dean of academic affairs and interprofessional education, will serve as associate dean of academic affairs and interprofessional education; Sandra Burgess, currently interim assistant dean of college relations, will serve as assistant dean of central administration; and Luvenia Cowart, currently assistant dean in the College of Nursing, will serve as assistant dean of student services. In addition, Bruce Lagay, currently interim dean of the School of Social Work, will serve as director of the School of Social Work; Linda Stone Fish, currently interim associate dean of student services for HSHP and director of the Marriage and Family Therapy Program in the College for Human Development, will serve as chair of the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy; Norm Faiola, currently interim associate dean of budget in HSHP and interim associate dean of the College for Human Development, will serve as chair of the Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management; and Norma Burgess, currently chair of the Department of Child and Family Studies in the College for Human Development, will continue to serve as chair of that department in HSHP. “I know that the talent, leadership and dedication of each of these individuals will be vital to the strength and success of the College of Human Services and Health Professions,” says Pollard. HSHP, which will be created by the combining of the College for Human Development, the College of Nursing and the School of Social Work, will open July 1. The college will consist of two schools and three departments: the School of Nursing, the School of Social Work, the Department of Child and Family Studies, the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy, and the Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management. The schools will be headed by directors and the departments by chairs. Some HSHP administrative positions have not yet been filled, including associate dean of research and director of the School of Nursing. National searches are under way to fill those positions.
