The It’s On Us student team, Peer Educators Encouraging Healthy Relationships and Sexuality, student organizations and the Office of Health Promotion are hosting the fall “It’s On Us” National Week of Action from Monday, Oct. 10, through Friday, Oct. 14. The “It’s On Us” national campaign, developed by the Center for American Progress and the White House, encourages every community member to take part in ending sexual assault.
Throughout the week, campus community members can take the pledge to end sexual assault, learn more about preventing sexual and relationship violence, and demonstrate support for victims and survivors.
Events for the week include:
Monday, Oct. 10—Office Decoration Contest
Offices are asked to develop the most creative design to raise awareness of dating violence and show support for survivors and people impacted by interpersonal violence. Complete the office registration form to participate. Student judges will visit offices Wednesday and Thursday.
Tuesday, Oct. 11—Teal Tuesday
Wear teal to show your support for sexual assault survivors.
Tuesday, Oct. 11—Music with a Bystander Message
6 p.m., Setnor Auditorium
An interactive creative songwriting process to create dialogue around sexual assault awareness and bystander intervention. The workshop includes a brief education session, creating song lyrics and music, and producing a song of empowerment. Event is free and open to SU students, but space is limited. Register here.
Friday, Oct. 14—Office Decoration Contest Results
Winning offices will be announced at noon on the Health Promotion website.
Volunteers will also be tabling in various dining centers and the Schine Student Center throughout the week, handing out ribbons, information, bracelets and more. For the full calendar, visit the It’s On Us Week of Action webpage.
