Daquan Thomas ’16, a student in the Newhouse School and the College of Visual and Performing Arts, is the recipient of a 2016 Summer Fellowship from the International Radio and Television Society (IRTS) Foundation.

The nine-week Summer Fellowship Program teaches up-and-coming communicators the realities of the business world through practical experience and career-planning support. The program begins with an extensive, one-week orientation to broadcasting, cable, advertising and interactive media. Fellows have the opportunity to question industry professionals at panels, lectures and group discussions, take field trips and attend industry social functions.
Following this first week, fellows gain full-time, “real world” experience at New York-based media corporations. Thomas, a public relations senior, will be placed at Creative Artists Agency in New York City.
Thomas is a dual public relations and music industry major who will graduate this month. During his time as a student, he interned at WNYW/FOX 5’s “Good Day New York” show and the marketing communications firm Edelman. He worked at the Newhouse Career Development Center and in the central services office, and served as a peer adviser and a Newhouse Ambassador. He received the Dean’s Service Award from the Newhouse School. He was born and raised in Brooklyn.
