Mayfest, Block Party this Friday

The annual Mayfest and Block Party events are scheduled for Friday, April 29.

Mayfest

This student-only event will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. in Walnut Park. A collaboration between Syracuse University, the City of Syracuse and University Union, this spring event celebrates the end of the school year and includes free food, beverages, live music and activities. This year’s musical lineup includes Vince Staples, Louis the Child and PUBLIC.

Entry into Mayfest is free for all SU and SUNY-ESF undergraduates with a valid SU/ESF ID.

Entry into Mayfest for SU/ESF graduate students and College of Law students will require a pre-purchased ticket and a valid SU/ESF college ID. Guests of SU/ESF undergraduate students will also require a pre-purchased ticket and valid college or military ID. Tickets are $23 and available at the Schine Box Office.

For students and guests over 21, complimentary beer will be served at the event. Entry between 1 and 3 p.m. receives a wristband for three beers. Entry after 3 p.m. receives a wristband for two beers. Proof of age is required. Backpacks and bags are not permitted.

Due to the location of the event, parking will be limited on Walnut Avenue and Walnut Place on Wednesday, April 27, and Thursday, April 28. No parking will be permitted on Friday, April 29.

For all three days, Parking and Transit Services is offering limited parking at the Harrison Parking Lot. University Avenue Garage (UAG) will have limited parking available as well. The hours of operations for UAG are 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. on April 27 and April 28, and 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. on April 29.

Block Party

University Union has announced the lineup for Block Party 2016, featuring a co-headline between the DJ/producer duo The Chainsmokers and Chicago hip-hop artist Chance the Rapper. Alternative musician Jon Bellion will open the show.

The Carrier Dome doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with music beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are currently on sale through Ticketmaster for $34 and are available to the general public.
