Student Association is partnering with the Office of Research and the Office of Academic Affairs to provide stipends to support undergraduate students to conduct research over the summer.

Students will be selected on a competitive basis to pursue a mentored research experience under the guidance of distinguished SU professors over a period of 10 weeks.

The goal of this program is to assist scholars financially and academically while providing them the opportunity to sharpen their research skills over this period of time. This program is not exclusive to one specific research area, and students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

This program includes a $1,000 research stipend and access to the University’s libraries and science and computer laboratories.

The program is open to rising sophomores, juniors and seniors (graduating seniors are not eligible). Applicants should not have received any other grants, stipends or scholarships to conduct research over the summer.

Prior to applying, interested students should contact their professor to inquire if they are willing to provide mentorship to a student research intern for the summer.

Once a faculty mentor is confirmed, interested students should complete the application found here. Applications are due by Wednesday, April 20, at 6 p.m.

Interim Vice President for Research Peter Vanable will oversee the process of selecting summer research interns, with support from a faculty review committee.
