Entrepreneurship initiatives within schools from across campus are working together to collect applications from current and aspiring student entrepreneurs to enter the first annual Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Innovation Challenge. Students with a business idea or startup venture can register to enter the on-campus competition that will select one final team to represent Syracuse University at the first annual InVenture Prize event hosted at Georgia Tech.
“This conference-wide student innovation competition across the Atlantic Coast Conference will help promote entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity in our students,” says Mark Povinelli, the Kenneth A. and Mary Ann Shaw Professor of Practice in Entrepreneurial Leadership at Syracuse University. “It represents an opportunity for undergraduate entrepreneurial activity and increased student-faculty engagement, to celebrate and highlight the exceptional creativity and ingenuity of our students, and to inspire a greater sense of camaraderie across the conference by way of a televised, high-profile event.”
The criteria being judged at this competition include: the validity, novelty, design and potential social impact of the idea/business; the business model, value proposition, cost structure, key resources and marketability; future vision and team culture; and the probability of becoming a successful business. One team will be selected as the winner of the on-campus competition and will represent Syracuse University, competing against ideas from teams at the other ACC schools.
