The College of Law announced that Shubha Ghosh will join the faculty as the Crandall Melvin Professor of Law and director of the Technology Commercialization Law Program (TCLP). In January 2016, Professor Ghosh will teach “Technology Transfer” and related subjects while providing strategic direction to the college’s TCLP Center.
Shubha Ghosh
Ghosh is an internationally known expert in intellectual property, technology and antitrust law. He has held tenured professorships at the University of Wisconsin Law School, SUNY-Buffalo Law School and Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. Ghosh has published extensively on intellectual property and related subjects in law reviews and peer-reviewed publications, while also giving invited lectures and seminars at universities around the world. His book on human genome patenting and personalized medicine, “Identity and Invention,” was published by Cambridge University Press. He is also co-author of two casebooks: “Transactional Intellectual Property,” from Lexis-Nexis, and “Intellectual Property: Private Rights, The Public Interest, and the Regulation of Creative Activity,” with Thomson-West.
“Professor Ghosh brings more than 17 years of distinguished teaching experience to the College of Law, along with a commitment to forward-thinking research and scholarship in the growing fields of intellectual property and technology commercialization law,” says College of Law Interim Dean William Banks. “He will help the college expand its IP, technology and related academic programs while broadening the focus and capabilities of the TCLP Center.”
Most recently, Ghosh was the Vilas Research Fellow & George Young Bascom Professor in Business Law and Associate Director, the Initiative for Studies in Technology Entrepreneurship (INSITE), at the University of Wisconsin Law School. Ghosh also served as the inaugural American Academy of Arts & Sciences Science & Technology Fellow at the Federal Judicial Center (2014-15.)
Ghosh received his J.D., with distinction, from Stanford Law School, his master’s and Ph.D. (in economics) from the University of Michigan and his bachelor’s from Amherst College.
