Windjammer, Syracuse University’s vocal jazz ensemble, will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a concert on Sunday, April 11, from 4-6 p.m. in the Schine Underground in the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center. The concert is free and open to the public. Parking is available in SU pay lots.

The program will include new material and reprised favorites of the group, including jazz standards, blues, Latin jazz and original published vocal jazz works of director-pianist Bill DiCosimo, faculty member in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in SU’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA).

The concert will open with a performance by the Westhill High School Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Tonette Orlando. Special guest rhythm section performers include Edgar Pagan on bass and Frank Neubert on drums. Both musicians are members of the Syracuse-based Latin rock group Grupo Pagan and the Bill DiCosimo Quartet.

Members of Windjammer include Fiona Andrews, Gyasi Barber, Ryan Carty, Kevin Colson, Cate Davis, Mike Kelly, Caitlin Maeder, Priya Mahendra, Jackie Moe, Caitlin Moriarty, Mia Quatrone, Molly Quinn, Matt Robin, Erica Scarano, Justin Tasolides and Ryan Whitman. Rhythm section members are Andrew Dressler, drums, and Mario Pietra, bass.

Windjammer will be selling special vocal jazz T-shirts at the concert to benefit the ensemble. For more information about the event, contact DiCosimo at (315) 443-1216 or wjdicosi@syr.edu.
