The Syracuse Poster Project invites Central New York writers to submit haiku poems for the 2016 poster series, the 15th annual series. Each year the project brings together artists from Syracuse University and poets from the community to create a series of 16 posters for the poster panels of downtown Syracuse. Each poster features an illustrated poem about downtown, the city or nearby countryside.
The new series will consist of 15 posters created the traditional way (poem first, illustration second) and one special poster created in reverse (illustration first, poem second). For the special poster, Tim Coolbaugh, a graduate of SU’s master’s program in illustration, illustrated a dog rescue scene. Writers are invited to submit haiku to complement Coolbaugh’s poster.

The submission deadline is Sept.4. The project announces the selected poets and artists in December and releases the poster series in April.
