Maxwell School graduate student Nejwa Ali, who is pursuing a degree in international relations, took a two-hour hike to reach the Cascades d’Akchour in Chefchouen, Morocco. She is currently studying Arabic in Rabat, Morocco.
Natalie Koch, assistant professor in the Department of Geography in the Maxwell School, spent time in July in the Ala-Archa National Park near Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Koch is working on a research project about falconry in Central Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. She held a trained golden eagle, which is the primary bird that Central Asian falconers use for sport hunting.
Peer assistants with the Slutzker Center for International Services this summer took a break by visiting the Water Tower in Syracuse. The students are from left Claudia Garib, Erika Choi, Urmi Chhapia and Marcio Fao.
Joe Pellegrino, Audiology Clinic director and assistant professor of clinical practice, Jaclyn Grosso, of the Fast Forward Syracuse Program Management Office, and their families navigated 17 miles on the Hudson River Aug. 1.
Several members of the School of Education community attended a research workshop July 14 at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya. The workshop for more than 40 East African doctoral students took place through the Syracuse University-Kenyatta University partnership. Three-year-old Riley Waters had some fun in the sand at Mill Run Park in Manlius, N.Y. He is the son of Heather Allison Waters, assistant dean for advancement in the School of Education, and Sterling Waters, a student in the MBA@Syracuse program.
After presenting their work at an aerospace engineering conference in Australia, Ph.D. students Matthew Berry and Andrew Magstadt stopped at the “Lord of the Rings” movie set in New Zealand.
Chiara Vantaggiato ’16, at right in foreground, interned at Big Cat Rescue, in Tampa, Fla., a sanctuary dedicated to helping abandoned and abused big cats. In the photo, she is helping to move Jade, a female African Leopard, into a new enclosure. Vantaggiato, who is pursuing a biology degree, plans to become a big cat veterinarian.
