Local teen artists who participated in the six-week summer intensive offered by Talent Agency Teen Art Portfolio Development, Inc., will exhibit their work at an open house on Friday, Aug. 14, from 4-6:30 p.m. at the agency’s art studios, 831 W. Fayette St., Syracuse. Talent Agency is staffed by Syracuse University students.

Talent Agency exists to serve Syracuse area high school students from economically disadvantaged communities by providing educational opportunities. Its goal is to develop the students’ natural talents and set program participants on a course to college art and design program or quality technical education and training. The SU students mentor the artists and offer instruction in drawing, 3D/sculpture, painting, illustration/graphic design, and publicity and community outreach.

Staff members for the summer intensive included four students from the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ School of Art: Stephanie Holmes; Jeremy Horseman G’16, a graduate painting student; Lazaro Sanchez ’16, an illustration major; and Jessica Whitley ’18, a sculpture major. Two students from the College of Arts and Sciences also served as staff: Alia Anamaria ’18, a psychology major, and Mariah Scott G’16, a graduate student in the Janklow Arts Leadership Program.

This is the fifth year an open house has been held to exhibit the students’ work from the summer intensive. In fall 2015, the College of Visual and Performing Arts plans to offer a course focused on Talent Agency.
