The May 7 session of the Institute for Retired People (IRP) will feature Elizabeth Dunbar, director of the Everson Museum. Dunbar will discuss the current and upcoming events and changes taking place at the museum. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions following the presentation.
Dunbar assumed the position of executive director of the Everson on Jan. 1. She has nearly 15 years’ museum senior management experience. Most recently, she served as executive director of DiverseWorks in Houston, where she led an institutional turnaround by articulating a new vision, stabilizing and enhancing finances, and galvanizing community support. Prior to her position at DiverseWorks, Dunbar served as the associate director of Arthouse (now the Contemporary Austin) in Austin, Texas. Dunbar has also held curatorial positions at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Mo.; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City.
