Middle Eastern Studies Program CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Proposal deadline: Thursday, Feb. 26

Middle Eastern Studies Program (MESP) Summer Research Grants 2015

This year the Middle Eastern Studies Program (MESP) will grant up to 3 awards (in the range of $1,000 each) to Maxwell Ph.D. and M.A. candidates from any discipline to support field research in the Middle East during the summer of 2015. Any student enrolled in a Ph.D. or M.A. program at Syracuse University may apply.

The awards can be used to undergo advanced language training, gather data and increase competitiveness of future proposals for funding. The awards are competitive, and proposals will be evaluated on the basis of (i) originality and significance of the proposed research/study, (ii) organization and clarity of the proposal (iii) appropriateness and feasibility of the research/study plan in relation to the student’s background and qualifications, and (iv) cost effectiveness.

You may apply for more than one summer grant from the Moynihan Institute, but you will not receive more than one in a given year. Other types of support that could exclude you from receiving a summer research grant include summer FLAS funding, summer de Sardon-Glass support and other types of summer support from the Moynihan Institute. Awards are ranked separately, so if your proposal is accepted by more than one committee, you will be awarded the better opportunity.
