“Echoes V” by Gladys Triana
Point of Contact Gallery is hosting an opening reception for “Sharply into a Light Space,” an exhibition by Gladys Triana, on Thursday, Feb. 27. The exhibition deals with themes of climate change and the future of our natural environment in a series of photographs, two videos and an installation.
The opening reception will take place from 6-8 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
“Sharply into a Light Space” will be on view from Feb. 27 to April 25. The gallery is open daily from noon-4 p.m. or by appointment.
Gladys Triana was born in Camagüey, Cuba, in 1937, and since 1975, she has resided in New York City. She completed a B.A. degree at Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, New York; (1976) and an M.A. degree at Long Island University, New York; (1977). She studied print making at the San Fernando University in Madrid, Spain (1970-1972).
Her artwork includes prints, drawings, collages, works on canvas, photography and installations, which have been presented in numerous solo exhibitions around the United States and abroad at many international collective expositions. Triana’s work is represented in such museums as the Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York; El Museo de Arte Moderno, Santo Domingo; El Museo de Bellas Artes, Santiago de Chile, Chile; El Museo de la Ciudad, Queretaro, Mexico; Housatonic Museum, Connecticut; The Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Frost Art Museum, Miami, Florida; and Art Museum of Fine Art at Arizona State University, Arizona, among others.
