The State Journal-Register (Springfield, Ill.) reported R. David Lankes, associate professor in the School of Information Studies (iSchool), will lead instructors for an Illinois library initiative that will teach public, private and university librarians how to use new digital tools in library settings.
Publication of “Popular Turkish Love Lyrics & Folk Legends” by Syracuse University Press is reported in the Hurriyet Daily News and Economic Review (Istanbul, Turkey).

David M. Crane L’80, professor of practice in the College of Law, commented in a Voice of America article about the trial of former Liberian leader Charles Taylor in the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the Internet web sites that monitor the proceedings, including Impunity Watch.
Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, was interviewed on PBS’s “NewsHour with Jim Lehrer” (view broadcast clip) and is quoted in a Boston Herald story about upcoming prime time and late night programming changes for TV hosts Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien. Thompson is also quoted in an Orlando Sentinel article on celebrity tabloid reporting on the TMZ web site, and in a Newsday story on Derek Jeter’s planned wedding.
