SU Women’s Choir to Present Concert with the College of William & Mary Women’s Chorus

w&mThe Syracuse University Women’s Choir will host and present a joint concert with the College of William & Mary Women’s Chorus on Saturday, March 23, at 8 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, Crouse College. The concert is free and open to the public.

Free and accessible parking is available in the Q-1 lot; additional parking is available in the Irving Garage. Campus parking availability is subject to change; call 315-443-2191 for current information.

Under the direction of Jamie Bartlett, the William & Mary Women’s Chorus will perform works by Levine, Duruflé, Daley, Gilbert, Gilpin, Grandi, Hulse, Lawson and Orbán. Repertoire to be sung by the SU Women’s Choir includes Brahms, Johnson, Lojeski, Hagen and Pierson. The choir appears under the direction of Barbara M. Tagg, instructor of music in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts. The choirs will combine for the finale, “Amani” by Jim Papoulis.

The performance is the final concert of the William & Mary Women’s Chorus’ spring tour of the Northeast. It is also the third event of the 2012-13 Women’s Choir season honoring 125 years of “Women in Song” at SU.

The SU Women’s Choir will also host a dinner for the William & Mary Women’s Chorus, and members of DeWitt Community Church will host the singers overnight. On Sunday, March 24, the William & Mary Women’s Chorus will sing for the 9 a.m. service at DeWitt Community Church.

The SU Women’s Choir includes students who are both music majors from the Setnor School of Music as well as students from a variety of other majors across campus.
