The Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Buildings and Grounds” blog featured the groundbreaking for Dineen Hall, the landmark building that will become the home of the Syracuse University College of Law.
The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), founded in 2007 at the Whitman School of Management and operated by the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF), was mentioned by Nashville.com in a story on the May 22 Grand Olde Opry salute to heroes of the U.S. military. The concert is being co-sponsored by EBV partner Humana, will be broadcast as the premiere episode of “Noteworthy at the Opry” on the Great American Country network on May 26 at 9 p.m. In addition to performances and personal stories from the musical acts and interviews with other celebrities about the artists and music featured, the show includes a segment on the EBV, with on-camera interviews by EBV founder and IVMF executive director Mike Haynie, and EBV-Syracuse graduates and U.S. Marine Corps veterans Brian Iglesias and Justin Constantine.
NDTV highlighted the 2012 SU Commencement address delivered by College of Visual and Performing Arts alumnus Aaron Sorkin ’83. Fox News also included his speech as being among its “most inspiring celebrity graduation speeches.”
YNN covered the luncheon yesterday where the Sustainable Enterprise Partnership (SEP) joined with representatives from Carrier to celebrate five years of successful collaboration in environmental studies, research and stewardship through SEP. At the luncheon, it was announced that continued support from Carrier will establish the LEED® boot camp program for SU graduate students.
YNN reported on the recent Commencement address by former U.S. Vice President Dan Quayle to graduates of the College of Law.
Dick Case’s Post-Standard column featured volunteer teachers at Ed Smith School in Say Yes to Education as part of the master gardner’s program of Onondaga County/Cornell Cooperative Extension. Jenifer Breyer, who is retired from SU and Syracuse Stage, is the Say Yes program manager for Ed Smith.
The Post-Standard previewed a lecture on rockets at the MOST by Damian G. Allis, a research associate professor of chemistry in The College of Arts and Sciences.
