A New York Times story on notable commencement speeches for 2012 includes excerpts from the Syracuse University Commencement address delivered by VPA alumnus Aaron Sorkin ’83.

The New York Daily News cites recent national veteran employment data analyzed by the Institute for Veterans and Military Families in its final story in the Hire Me! Veterans series highlighting the crisis of veteran employment.

A Washington Post column on the need for transparency in higher education costs and financial aid notes SU and nine other institutions have committed to promoting greater clarity in student financial aid packages and college costs. The piece republished in the Post-Standard “Moneywise” section is accompanied by a photo of a campus tour on the Kenneth A. Shaw Quadrangle.

Kevin Noble Maillard, associate professor in the College of Law, opened a New York Times “Room for Debate” segment with his essay on fathers and parenting.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a Des Moines Register article on Watergate and discusses Nik Wallenda’s tightrope crossing of Niagara Falls Friday night in a report on Detroit’s WJR-AM radio (listen to clip).

David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law, is quoted in a Media Matters for America report about investigative journalism and possible White House leaks.

Don Dutkowsky, professor of economics at the Maxwell School, is quoted in a Post-Standard article on unemployment benefits being cut being cut by 14 weeks in New York State.

David Rubin, professor and dean emeritus at the Newhouse School, authored a guest column in Saturday’s Post-Standard on the final phase of Carousel Center development.
