In an announcement Tuesday in New York, several alumni from the College of Visual and Performing Arts were nominated for 2012 Tony Awards. The list of nominations includes Frank Langella ’59 for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for “Man and Boy”; Josh Young ’03 for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for “Jesus Christ Superstar”; Jessie Mueller ’05 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever”; Wayne Barker ’86 for Best Original Score (music) for “Peter and the Starcatcher”; and Jack Feldman ’72 for Best Original Score (lyrics) for “Newsies”.
Additionally, several performances produced by Newhouse alum Van Dean ’96 received nominations: “Porgy and Bess” (10 nominations), “Evita” (three nominations), “Bonnie & Clyde” (two nominations), and “The Best Man” (two nominations).
