Advertising students from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications were winners at the 2012 American Advertising Federation (AAF) regional competition (District 2), held earlier this month in New York City. Newhouse students have won at regional competitions three times in the past four years.
The students presented on a campaign they developed to help car manufacturer Nissan appeal to multicultural millennials.
The campaign was developed by students in the “Advertising Research and Account Planning” (ADV 509) course, who conducted research, and the “Integrated Advertising Campaigns” (ADV 425) course, who completed the project and delivered the presentation.
Advertising faculty members Ed Russell, Kevin O’Neill, Amy Falkner and James Tsao supervised the students. Larry Elin, associate professor of television-radio-film, produced a TV commercial for the project.
Student team members include: Karly Bader; Grace Brennan; Jen Brotman (presenter); Alex Cohen (presenter); Julia Davis; Mel Fish; Ellen Gurss; and Casey Ann O’Brien (presenter), who worked on account planning and/or media; and Evan Davis; (presenter); H.J. Kwon (presenter); Julia McGovern; Chris Parker; Ellie Thiele; Malory Wheaton; and Kaity Wong, who worked on creative.
The team will compete at the AAF national convention in Austin, Texas in June.
