The first national expansion of the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veteran’s Families (EBV-F) will be held at Florida State University (FSU) beginning April 10 and running through April 18. Founded in 2010 at Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management, and operated by the University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF), the EBV-F provides training in small business management to caregivers of post-9/11 veterans with service-connected disabilities, as well surviving spouses of those who lost their lives in service to the country.

ebvfThe EBV-F program positions family members to launch and/or grow small businesses in a way that is complementary or enhancing to other family responsibilities. Sixteen participants will be exposed to the nuts and bolts of business ownership during the EBV-F at FSU through experiential workshops and lessons from world-class entrepreneurship faculty representing nationally ranked programs around the country. The EBV-F at FSU is sponsored by the Center for Veteran Outreach in the university’s College of Business.

“The expansion of the EBV-Families program to Florida State represents an important step in the continued development of our efforts to provide support and stability to military families that have sacrificed so much on behalf of our nation,” says IVMF executive director Mike Haynie, EBV founder and a U.S. Air Force veteran. “By expanding the EBV-F program through our network of university partners, we are furthering small business skills and entrepreneurship training to those families that need flexible employment options so that they may better balance work and family roles.”

For more information on the EBV-F, contact Jared Lyon, national program manager, at 315-443-6007 or jslyon@syr.edu.
