The public is invited to the launch of author Ruth Colvin’s new book, “Off the Beaten Path: Stories of People Around the World,” published by the Syracuse University Press.
Colvin is the founder of Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc., which merged with Laubach Literacy International to become ProLiteracy. The recipient of nine honorary doctorates, Colvin was given the highest award for volunteerism in the United States, the President’s Volunteer Action Award, in 1987. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2006 and was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 1991. She lives in Syracuse.
The launch will take place Thursday, March 15, from 4-6 p.m. at the Onondaga Historical Association, located at 321 Montgomery St., Syracuse.
