8th Annual Bookstore Buzz Event March 5-9

A large selection of flowers, plants and garden accessories from Watson Greenhouse will be on sale March 5-9 in the lower level of the Bookstore.

Monday, March 5, Knitting 101
Susan Miller, owner of the Yarn Cupboard, will be on hand to answer your crafting questions. Whether you’re a knitting novice or would just like to brush up on the basics, this quick refresher course will get you clicking. Please feel free to bring your needles and yarn or you can purchase materials from Susan’s selection of lovely yarns and accessories on the day. You’ll be knitting up a storm in no time!

Tuesday, March 6, Self-Catering in a Snap!
Planning a small get-together, large scale event, meeting or office party? Representatives from Syracuse University Food Services will be on hand with recipes, a cooking demonstration and samples to help make your event a success. Come by the bookstore to learn about all of the versatile Self-Catering Menus available on the Food Services web site including options for gluten free and vegan diets. Food Services invite you to taste the delicious offerings we have on our
campus.

Wednesday, March 7, Craft Bazaar and Sale
Our third annual craft mixer will feature Joan Ford who will discuss her book “Scrap Therapy: Cut the Scraps!” and sell quilt patterns; Sandee and Anthony Dain from Cherished Baskets; Ardyce Lake and Bob Lake from Lake’s Trunks; Metalsmith Laurel O’Brien; Brittany from On The Bright Side; Katie from BeeLight Jewelry; Susan Miller from the Yarn Cupboard; representatives from Duck Flat Farms LLC; Danielle Rose from DanielleRoseBean; Beth Eichen from Lili Pad Creations; and handmade bracelet artisan Ronna Schindler.

This craft spectacular will feature tips and tricks as well as novelty yarns, specialty needles, classic wools, quilting materials, handmade jewelry, handbags and
basket weaving materials for sale and demonstration.

Thursday, March 8, From the Louisiana Swamp to the New York Garden: Growing Louisiana Irises in Upstate New York.
Louisiana Iris maven and aficionado M.J. Urist will dazzle us with a presentation about growing and cultivating Louisiana Irises in Central New York. These exceptionally beautiful flowers can be grown almost anywhere in the United States and even into Canada, provided a few easy requirements for cultivation are met. M.J. will bring these spectacular flowers to life with her informative and delightful presentation.

Friday, March 9, Helping Dogs with People Problems
Back by popular demand, Mitch Stahl from Stahl Hunde K9 is ready to answer your questions about training your four-legged friend. Mitch will demonstrate proper training techniques for modifying undesirable behaviors such as stealing socks, incessant barking and leash-pulling. Dogs are welcome to attend.
