Film starring Emma Roberts to shoot several scenes on SU campus

On Saturday, Feb. 18, Hollywood comes to SU as crews for the independent film “Adult World” arrive on campus for a day of production shoots. The PG-13 film, produced by Syracuse native Justin Nappi, is expected to premiere at a future Sundance Film Festival and stars Emma Roberts as a recent college graduate who believes she’s destined to be a great poet. After several rejections from national magazines, she’s forced to take the first job she can find. Actor John Cusack stars as her professor.

“It’s a quirky coming-of-age story,” Roberts recently told USA Today. “My character is very smart, but the economy is very bad.”

More than 100 students from the College of Visual and Performing Arts will gain a rare, real-world view of the film-making process as they work on the set as extras, production interns, set designers, prop masters and grips. Crews will be working at Carnegie Library, the Maxwell School, Crouse College, Link Hall and outside the Hall of Languages. Next week crews will shoot a scene with the SU Pep Band in the Carrier Dome.

Production on the film continues through the end of February at locations throughout Syracuse and Central New York.
