David M. Crane, professor of practice in the College of Law, was quoted in an Associated Press article on the United Nations Human Rights Council vote to endorse a Gaza war crimes report.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, appeared on the CBS Evening News to speak about the helium balloon hoax in Colorado.

Eric Beattie, director of Campus Planning, Design and Construction, was featured in a Design Develop Construct Journal article on sustainable building and renovation. Syracuse University Chancellor Nancy Cantor was also mentioned. SU’s LEED-based building policies with the Syracuse CoE, Ernie Davis Hall, Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center and green data center were included.

Jeremy Shiffman, associate professor of public administration in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affais, was quoted in a Philadelphia Inquirer article on winners of the Franklin Institute awards.

An essay by George Saunders, English professor in The College of Arts and Sciences, on the Russian writer Daniil Kharms, was reprinted in the Post-Standard. The piece originally appeared in The New York Times in 2007.

Chancellor Cantor; Maarten Jacobs, director of the Near Westside Initiative; Jacob Brown, program administrator in the School of Architecture; and Chris McCray, assistant professor in the College of Visual and Performing Arts; were quoted in a Post-Standard story on the Near Westside Initiative and the Syracuse Art, Life and Technology (SALT) District.

College of Arts and Sciences student Jaime Sherman was featured in a Hartford (Conn.) Courant story on her field experiences studying abroad in South Africa.

Dinesh Gauri, assistant professor of marketing in the Whitman School of Management, and Michael Wasylenko, professor of economics in the Maxwell School, were quoted in a Syracuse.com story on tax rebates for appliances.

Patrick T. Mather, director of the Syracuse Biomaterials Institute and Milton and Ann Stevenson Professor of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, was mentioned in a Post-Standard article on John Hendricks, next presenter in the University Lectures series and founder of the Discovery Channel. SU’s participation in the cable network’s project, “Curiosity: The Questions of Our Life” was also mentioned.

Ted Koppel ’60, H’82, was interviewed by George Kilpatrick on WCNY’s Central Issues program about the current state of journalism.
