The Department of Magazine in Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications will host “The Digital Mystique: Women’s Editorial Online” Monday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. in Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium in Newhouse 3. Follow on Twitter at #womensweb.
The panel discussion will explore the unique voice of women’s websites and why the content and tone of many women’s websites is so different than their print forebearers.
“The open spirit of the web made room for women seeking an alternative to traditional glossies,” says Aileen Gallagher, assistant professor of multiplatform journalism in the Newhouse School. “Our panel will explore that evolution with some of the Internet’s strongest voices.”
Gallagher will moderate. Panelists include Anna Holmes, founder of Jezebel; Jessica Coen, editor of Jezebel; Edith Zimmerman, founder/editor of The Hairpin; and Lori Adelman, writer for Feministing and The Grio.
