SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

The Post-Standard profiled SU alumnus John Robinson. He spoke to entrepreneurs about overcoming challenges as part of the Start-Up NY monthly lunch series at the South Side Innovation Center.

Brian Spector, Syracuse University Trustee and president of SU’s Alumni Association, was interviewed on YNN as part of a story on SU’s move to the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Post-Standard featured La Casita Cultural Center, which will hold its grand opening on Sept. 28. The center was co-founded by College of Arts and Sciences faculty members Inmaculada Lara-Bonilla and Silvio Torres-Saillant, and started as a Chancellor’s Leadership Project in 2009. The College of Arts and Sciences administers the center.

The Post-Standard previewed Syracuse Stage’s upcoming production “The Turn of the Screw.”

The Central New York Business Journal reported that Mary Ann Tyszko will lead the newly created Office of Strategic Business Development and Innovation at Syracuse University.

FACULTY QUOTES

Leonard Burman, the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Professor of Public Affairs at the Maxwell School, spoke on NPR‘s “All Things Considered” about the federal tax rate for capital gains and dividends.

The Indianapolis Star quotes Andrew London, department chair and professor of sociology in the Maxwell School, in an article about a college professor telling her students she has AIDS, in effort to reduce the stigma of the disease.

USA Today quotes Anthony Rotolo, assistant professor of practice in the School of Information Studies (iSchool), on the role of social media in college admissions.

Menachem Z. Rosensaft, distinguished visiting lecturer at Syracuse University College of Law, authored a column for the Jerusalem Post on the need for the international community to monitor Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in light of genocide remarks.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in USA Today on the “colawars” on network television. He is also quoted in Forbes on Oprah Winfrey’s new cable network.
