The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), a cutting-edge business training program that provides veterans with disabilities with the tools to achieve the American dream of business ownership, has been endorsed by the nonprofit Code of Support Foundation as an organization that is taking the next step by providing support to our nation’s troops, wounded warriors, veterans and their families. The EBV was founded in 2007 at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University and is administered on the SU campus under the auspices of the newly created Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF).
The EBV’s endorsement by the Code of Support Foundation is based on the mission of the organization being consistent with the spirit of the foundation, and on proper vetting of the quality of the organization’s operations and results achieved. The foundation provides a manageable list of high-quality organizations to those who want to help the military community, but do not know where to begin among the thousands of organizations of varying quality that purport to support troops and seek financial support.
The EBV, which celebrated its fifth year on the SU campus in 2011, is offered through a network of world-class business schools, which includes the University of Connecticut, Florida State University, Louisiana State University, Purdue University, Texas A&M University and UCLA. More than 150 veterans will receive training at EBV consortium schools over the next few months. More than 350 veterans from across the country have graduated from the EBV since 2007, and to date graduates have created more than 170 new businesses.
The IVMF is an academic center that fully leverages the national resources of higher education in service to the country’s veteran community. In partnership with community stakeholders, and the support of JPMorgan Chase, the IVMF develops research and educational and employment-focused programs positioned to address the primary social and economic concerns of the nation’s veterans and their families.
