The July 2011 issue of The American Legion Magazine features an article, “From Boots to Suits,” on the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), founded in 2007 at the Whitman School of Management. Mike Haynie, EBV founding director and Barnes Professor of Entrepreneurship in Whitman, and Brian Iglesias, a 2008 EBV graduate and filmmaker, are quoted.
The Post-Standard published a brief report on the self-published book, “The Darkest Mission” (Long Reef Press, 2011), a World War II novel written by Rick Burton, David B. Falk Professor of Sport Management in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics.

William Banks, Board of Advisors Distinguished Professor and director of the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism in the College of Law and the Maxwell School, is quoted in an Associated Press article on a new type of military leadership training for dual-status military commanders, coordinating military response during domestic disasters.
Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a BBC News report on the Casey Anthony trial and in a Fox News story about patriotism and the evolution of Captain America. Thompson is also quoted in a Toronto Star story on standard English and text-messaging abbreviations.
Rochester’s Democrat and Chronicle quotes Joel Kaplan, associate dean of professional graduate studies at the Newhouse School, in its profile of Scott Jaschik, founding editor of “Inside Higher Ed” and a Rochester-area native.
