Whitman recognized in 2011 Bloomberg Businessweek undergraduate specialty rankings

Bloomberg Businessweek recently released a ranking of specialty undergraduate business programs as a follow-up to its March 2011 undergraduate business program ranking, in which the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University held on to the 47th spot for the second year in a row.

Each year, as part of its ranking of the nation’s top undergraduate business programs, Bloomberg Businessweek surveys more than 85,000 students at more than 100 top business schools and asks them to rate their program’s performance in 14 academic disciplines, ranging from accounting and entrepreneurship to marketing and sustainability.

The Whitman School ranked in each specialty category. Entrepreneurship, which was not part of specialty ranking disciplines in 2010, is ranked third nationwide. The school’s program in corporate strategy is ranked 22nd in the country and operations management is ranked 26th. The accounting program moved up six spots from 2010, to 30th in the nation. Whitman also improved seven spots and ranks 41st in sustainability, reflecting the school’s unique Sustainable Enterprise Partnership, a collaboration between Whitman, SUNY-ESF and the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems.

Whitman also ranked in the specialty areas of international business, quantitative methods, ethics, business law, financial management and marketing management.
