The New York Times reported that the partnership between the Dahesh Museum and Syracuse University is taking its exhibition program to Dubai, a first for both institutions. For a month starting on June 18, it will present “Islamic Ornament in 19th Century Works” from the Dahesh Museum of Art and SU.

The Post-Standard reported that SU student-run business Helios beat more than 20 other student-run teams to win $50,000 in the New York State Business Plan Competition at the University of Albany’s College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. Helios developed a method that uses ultraviolet light to sterilize medical tools within three minutes. The four founders of Helios are Stephanie Appleby, a communications design student in The College of Visual and Performing Arts; Luis Romo, a graduate student in biomedical engineering in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science; Nick Garritano, an industrial design student in VPA; and Tagbo Herman Roland Niepa, a doctoral candidate in chemical engineering in LCS. Another business started by SU students, Broodr.com, won $10,000 in the competition’s services/nonprofit track.
