SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

The “Wretches and Jabberers” documentary was reviewed by the New Jersey Newsroom web site.

YNN, 9WSYR, CNY Central, and the Post-Standard reported on the final Syracuse Symphony Orchestra concert, held Saturday at SU’s Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium. Also, a Monday Post-Standard article on the symphony shutdown’s effect on youth orchestras mentions James Tapia, director of orchestral activities at Syracuse University’s Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music, for his conducting role.

A Saturday Post-Standard article about the Emerging Talk conference held in Syracuse for student entrepreneurs mentions SU students, alumni and Bruce Kingma, associate provost for entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Central New York Business Journal noted the Whitman School of Management being ranked in Bloomberg Businessweek’s sixth annual “The Best Undergraduate Business Schools.”

The Syracuse Drama production of “Curse of the Starving Class” was reviewed by the Post-Standard.

FACULTY QUOTES

Scott Nicholson, associate professor in the School of Information Studies (iSchool), was interviewed for a CBS News Sunday Morning (watch clip) segment on board games.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a Christian Science Monitor story about upcoming Showtime miniseries on the Kennedys and the Borgias; and in a Buffalo News story on community-oriented programming. Thompson is also quoted in a Columbus Dispatch story on the MTV reality show, “The Real World,” and in a Scranton Times-Tribune article on 3D television.

Donald Saleh, vice president for enrollment management, is quoted in a 9WSYR report about rising numbers of applications at area colleges.

An op-ed by third year Syracuse University College of Law student Kristin Sahagian about the dangers of sending sexually explicit text messages appeared in Sunday’s Post-Standard. Sahagian is executive editor of the Syracuse Law Review, which is a sponsor of Saturday’s “Predators, Porn and the Law” conference.

The Maxwell School’s Michael Wasylenko is quoted briefly in a Monday Post-Standard editorial about 2010 Census numbers showing a population increase in Central New York.
