SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

The Watertown Daily Times reported on a annual grant provided to the Beaver River Central School District as part of the Creating Safe and Peaceful Schools Project, an effort created by Mara Sapon-Shevin, professor at the School of Education.

The Post-Standard, YNN, WSYR-TV and CNY Central reported on yesterday’s commemoration at Syracuse University of the 22nd anniversary of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103.

The Post-Standard reported on members of The NewHouse advertising agency, based in the Newhouse School, winning a national advertising contest by creating a full advertising strategy for Honda’s CR-Z sport hybrid.

CNY Central reported briefly on students studying through SU Abroad’s Florence program dealing with the delays at international airports due to snow and weather.

The Central New York Business Journal reported on the board approval from the Empire State Development for a $5 million grant for the Connective Corridor.

WCNY’s Central Issues featured the work of the Cold Case Justice Initiative. Paula Johnson, professor of law in the Syracuse University College of Law and co-director of the Cold Case Justice Initiative, was interviewed.


FACULTY QUOTES

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in the Christian Science Monitor on the movie “Tron: Legacy.”

Menachem Z. Rosensaft, distinguished visiting lecturer at Syracuse University College of Law, authored a Washington Post “On Faith” column about political views on American Jews in public life.

Grant Reeher, professor of political science in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, is quoted in AM NY on New York state and the latest Census report.

Jeffrey Stonecash, professor of political science in the Maxwell School and College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in a WSYR-TV article on redistricting and the U.S. Census Bureau report on shifting populations in the United States.

WRVO spoke with Charles T. Driscoll, University Professor of Environmental Systems Engineering in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, about the drinking water in Syracuse.
