David Larsen, associate professor of public health in the Falk College, was quoted in The Schenectady Daily Gazette story “Schenectady sewage plant among dozens helping track COVID pandemic.” Larsen, who is working with the Department of Health to monitor wastewater in many towns across New York, explained that testing sewage can often give greater insight into the extent to which COVID-19 is spreading through a community. “What’s lurking in the general population is much greater than what we see on the surface,” Larsen said.
