“Battle of the 1980s rides”

Robert Thompson, Trustee Professor of television, radio, and film in the Newhouse School and director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture, was quoted in The Toronto Star story “Battle of the 1980s rides.” Thompson, an expert on pop culture references in film, discussed how certain cars have become iconic after being featuring in certain movies. “I can think of very few things that represent American popular culture in the 1980s more than Miami Vice. That was about as ’80s as it gets,” Thompson said.
