Campus Invited to Explore Resources in Honor of Black History Month

As a way of celebrating Black History Month, the campus community is invited to explore a list of resources developed by faculty, staff, students and administrators to provide a window into the Black experience.

Black History Month, originally known as Negro History Week, was created by Carter G. Woodson in February 1926. The celebration was initially intended to teach students and young people about African Americans’ contributions. Today, we celebrate Black achievement, provide a fresh reminder to take stock of where systemic racism persists and give visibility to the people and organizations creating change.
