Is Border Control Related to an Increase in Poisoned Drug Supplies? Syracuse Professor Weighs In
A news release highlighting research from Maxwell’s Shannon Monnat and the Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion about low vaccination rates in rural areas of the U.S. was carried by more than 80 outlets, including Yahoo!, The Associated Press, MarketWatch and KCBS (San Francisco). Prof. Monnat was also quoted in the Daily Mail story “Mike Pompeo says Joe Biden’s southern border failures mean that American children will DIE as drugs including fake prescription pills laced with fentanyl pour into the US from Mexico.”
Monnat, who researches geographic patterns of overdoses, stated, “What’s really driving the surge in overdoses is this increasingly poisoned drug supply. Nearly all of this increase is fentanyl contamination in some way. Heroin is contaminated. Cocaine is contaminated. Methamphetamine is contaminated.”
