Important Move-In Information

Students

Dear Students and Families:

We look forward to welcoming you to campus next week! As you finalize your travel plans, we are reaching out with some important information related to move-in to help you plan accordingly. Outlined in this message are important details on the following:

  • Move-In Pass
  • Check-In Process
  • Arrival Testing for Students Accessing Campus With Vaccine Exemptions
  • Move-In Reminders
  • Shipping Belongings

Move-In Pass

Students are scheduled to move-in at the time designated on their move-in pass. All residential students received a confirmation email from the Housing Office with their scheduled move-in time. You are only permitted to move in during your designated time slot. Please keep your move-in pass on your dashboard.

Check-In Process

Based on your fall housing assignment, follow the directions to the appropriate holding line or check-in location.

Once in your designated holding line or check-in location, a volunteer will instruct you when to check in at your residence hall’s front desk, or at Goldstein Student Center if you live on South Campus, to collect your SU I.D. and key, and to confirm you have submitted all required documents in order to move in.

Arrival Testing for Students Accessing Campus With Vaccine Exemptions

Students who are accessing campus with a medical or religious vaccine exemption are required to participate in arrival testing prior to moving into their residence hall or South Campus apartment. Details on where to participate in COVID-19 surveillance testing have been sent to your Syracuse University (@syr.edu) email address. Please plan to arrive at your testing location prior to your scheduled move-in time. You will need to wait at the testing location while your rapid test is processed.

IMPORTANT: If you are accessing campus with a vaccine exemption and arrive to campus outside of testing hours, you will need to find temporary accommodations until you can complete your arrival testing the next day. Several area hotels are possible options.

Move-In Reminders

In support of the health and safety of our community, please adhere to the following guidance when on campus:

  • To limit congestion in the residence halls, please plan to bring no more than two guests into the residence halls at a time to assist with move-in.
  • Check the current University COVID Alert level for applicable on-campus masking requirements in accordance with the University’s COVID and Masking Alert Framework. Currently, Syracuse University is at the BLUE level. In accordance with the guidance and based on public health risk assessment, we will require masks for all students and visitors (vaccinated and unvaccinated), at all times during the move-in process.

Shipping Belongings

Students are encouraged to ship belongings as close to their arrival date as possible. Please be sure to use the correct campus mailing address for your residence hall or South Campus apartment.

  • For Students Living in Residence Halls: Upon your arrival to your residence hall, check in at the front desk to obtain your package(s).
  • For Students Living in South Campus Apartments: Packages will be delivered and held at Goldstein Student Center until Aug. 30.

We look forward to welcoming you on campus soon! If you have any questions about moving in, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Student Living at osl@syr.edu.

Sincerely,

Terra Peckskamp
