Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

I write with a heavy heart to share with you that we have lost a member of the Syracuse University community. Sarah Riddle, a senior majoring in neuroscience in the College of Arts and Sciences, passed away this weekend. Sarah was from Barboursville, West Virginia.

I, along with Chancellor Kent Syverud, send our deep sympathy and sincere condolences on behalf of the entire Syracuse University community to Sarah’s family, friends, classmates and all those close to her. We keep Sarah’s loved ones in our thoughts and prayers as they grieve her passing.

As we mourn this loss, please remember that services and support are available to our campus community members during this difficult time. Students can contact the Barnes Center at The Arch 24 hours a day, seven days a week for counseling services by calling 315.443.8000. The Dean of Students Office can provide ongoing support to students Monday through Friday by calling 315.443.4357. Faculty and staff can reach trained clinicians 24 hours a day, seven days a week through Carebridge, the University’s Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, by calling 800.437.0911. As always, Hendricks Chapel is available to all members of the campus community for additional support and services by calling 315.443.2901.

With sadness,

Marianne Thomson
Associate Vice President and Dean of Students
