Shelvia Dancy, professor of broadcast and digital journalism in the Newhouse School, was interviewed for the CNY Central story “Blurring the lines of journalistic ethics.” Dancy, a former reporter and news anchor, believes the lines between news, commentary and entertainment have been drastically blurred, and Chris Cuomo’s show is a sign of this negative change. “It’s hard to convince a viewer that you’re really objective, that you’re really neutral when the source that you’re interviewing is someone you have a close personal relationship with,” Dancy says.
