Patrick Penfield, professor of supply chain practice and director of executive education in the Whitman School, was interviewed for the Good Morning America story “Food prices steadily climb nearly 1 year into pandemic.” Penfield says that prices of food will likely continue to rise over the next few months, due to the pandemic’s effect on supply chains. “The major factors impacting costs are demand, weather issues within the U.S. and food producers and supermarkets not offering substantial discounts to shoppers,” Penfield says.
