Sara Eftekharnejad, assistant professor of electrical engineering and computer science in the College of Engineering & Computer Science, was quoted in the Associated Press story “US needs to brace itself for more deadly storms, experts say.” Eftekharnejad, who researches renewable energy resources for more reliable power systems, says that while the recent winter storms in Texas were “an anomaly,” they are likely to occur again due to climate change. Because of this, Eftekharnejad says that better power system planning must be implemented in the U.S., as “we’re starting to see more extreme weather events across the country.”
