Now voters face a choice on climate change issues.” Under President Trump the EPA implemented the Affordable Clean Energy Rule (ACE), which requires coal-fired power plants to operate more efficiently in terms of carbon dioxide emissions. Driscoll, an expert on climate change and environmental systems, says the rule is a bad move for the EPA. “ACE incentivizes the continuation of coal. So it doesn’t do much in terms of carbon dioxide. It doesn’t do much for sulfur dioxide. So it’s really not doing anything in terms of getting us towards lower carbon dioxide and doesn’t provide health benefits associated with the co-pollutants,” says Driscoll.
