“Governor Cuomo is Asking the Community to Enforce Mask Wearing”

Doron Dorfman, associate professor in the College of Law, was interviewed by CNY Central for the story “Governor Cuomo is Asking the Community to Enforce Mask Wearing.” Professor Dorfman, who is an expert on public health law, worries that “if we only allow lay people to enforce rules and norms, they may not have the best experience with that,” as biases and stereotypes often present themselves with this sort of community policing. Ultimately, Dorfman says that the “root of the problem is that wearing a mask has become a political issue, when in reality it is a health measure.”
