’Cuse Works, Syracuse University’s resource for all things related to student employment has launched. Managed by the Student Employment Office and supported by the Invest Syracuse initiative, ’Cuse Works helps students connect to on- and off-campus jobs that encompass both Federal Work-Study and non-Federal Work-Study opportunities.
Through networking, gaining valuable professional experience and skill building, ’Cuse Works enhances the student experience. Additionally, this strategic resource hosts personalized student evolutions surrounding adaptability, professionalism, innovation and more, while aligning with University Shared Competencies. Each employment opportunity includes University Shared Competencies and employer set, student-oriented goals. Experiences are personally built between students and managers, surrounding professional skill development, goal-setting, training and performance reviews. As students graduate and transition into an increasingly complex and interconnected world, ’Cuse Works cultivates the skills needed to excel.
“From first professional experiences to aligning employment with career aspirations, ’Cuse Works not only shares tools for success but provides students with a strong foundation of experiential learning,” says Camille Donabella, director of student employment operations and strategy within the Student Employment Office. “The number of paid employment opportunities grow daily and we encourage all students to learn how ’Cuse Works can help them achieve their professional goals.”
Finding a Job
Student employment opportunities span responsibilities and industries, including food service, event management, office assistance, communication, technology and information systems, and more.
“The proactive actions made today, such as gaining real-world experience relatable to course of study, cultivates future success,” says Bridget Yule, director of Student Centers and Programming Services and a member of the ’Cuse Works Advisory Committee. “’Cuse Works provides an unsurpassed student resource by strategically aligning students with skills that will serve as career cornerstones.”
All ’Cuse Works opportunities are listed in Handshake, Syracuse University’s centralized career management tool. Students may log in to Handshake using their Syracuse University NetID and password to access employment opportunities by searching for ‘CuseWorks’ in the job title category. From creating a resume, polishing a cover letter or practicing interview skills, Career Services is available to assist during the ’Cuse Works application process.
