Syracuse University’s Holiday Sharing Program is once again partnering with PEACE, Inc.’s Adopt-A-Family Program and the Salvation Army’s Christmas Bureau to light up the holiday season for local families in need. The Syracuse University Holiday Sharing program is voluntary; in 2018, 27 University schools, colleges and departments participated.
“Holiday Sharing is one of my favorite campus service initiatives of the year. It’s a way to bring our community together to make an impact for people who are struggling or experiencing a challenging time. Many families are requesting basic human needs items, such as sheets, towels and soap,” says Jaclyn D. Grosso, executive director of operations and strategic initiatives in the Division of Marketing and Communications, who leads the division’s Holiday Sharing efforts. “Why not try to spread joy and help people in need during the holidays? This is the true spirit of the season and what it means to be Orange.”
Holiday Sharing is also a way to participate in the University’s 150 Days of Service initiative.

PEACE, Inc. Adopt-A-Family Holiday Giving Program
Participation options include adopting a family and purchasing gifts from a wish list, providing baskets of household supplies or personal items, or donating food, grocery store gift cards or monetary donations. To adopt a family, sign up here.
Peace, Inc. will pick up donations on Main Campus in the College Place lot on Tuesday, Dec. 10, (assigned drop-off times will be 10-11 a.m. and 2-3 p.m.) and on Thursday, Dec. 12, at Skytop (drop-off time TBD).

Salvation Army Christmas Bureau
Individuals, groups or departments may donate food and/or toys to the Salvation Army to be distributed during its annual Christmas Bureau event at the Oncenter in downtown Syracuse. For donation ideas, view the bureau’s Toy Wish List; their food wish list includes canned beans, canned fruit, canned meat, canned vegetables, canned soup, stuffing, macaroni and cheese and tuna (no glass containers, please).
The drop-off days for goods at the Oncenter are Monday, Dec. 16, and Tuesday, Dec. 17, and the distribution day is Wednesday, Dec. 18.
