During this year’s International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) annual conference, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) received the IACLEA accreditation for a second consecutive term; the original accreditation was awarded to the department in 2015. DPS was one of 14 member agencies that have acquired accreditation status since the 2018 conference. Currently, a total of 62 agencies have received this accreditation.
“We are proud of this honor for our organization as IACLEA requires police agencies to comply with 215 standards, as well as conduct regular training sessions to reinforce the established concepts and procedures,” says DPS Chief Bobby Maldonado.
IACLEA represents campus public safety leaders at more than 1,000 institutions of higher education and offers IACLEA Accreditation to colleges and university law enforcement, security and public safety departments. IACLEA Accreditation constitutes recognition that a department conforms to the highest professional standards for campus law enforcement and protective services.
Commander James McLellan and Detective Christopher Wood attended the conference in Vancouver, Canada, to receive the award on behalf of the department. The conference also provided numerous workshops and educational opportunities.
